What are Web Services?
- Web services are application components
- Web services communicate using open protocols
- Web services are self-contained and self-describing
- Web services can be discovered using UDDI
- Web services can be used by other applications
- XML is the basis for Web services
How Does it Work?
The basic Web services platform is XML + HTTP.
The HTTP protocol is the most used Internet protocol.
XML provides a language which can be used between different platforms and programming languages and still express complex messages and functions.
Web services platform elements
- SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)
- UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration)
- WSDL (Web Services Description Language)
We will explain these topics later in the tutorial

Crony Infotech is pleased to announce a new an improved Web site for the php/Java bridge project.
What is php/Java bridge?
The php/Java bridge is an optimized, XML-based network protocol, which can be used to connect a native script engine, PHP, with a Java or ECMA 335 virtual machine. It is more than 50 times faster than local RPC via SOAP, requires less resources on the web-server side, and it is faster and more reliable than communication via the Java Native Interface.
What can I do with the php/Java bridge?
The php/Java bridge allows you to quickly access java classes from within your PHP scripts without having to know Java. It also allows you to access PHP scripts from within your Java classes without having to know PHP.
Because of this two-way flexibility, you can access hundreds of pre-built Java classes from your PHP scripts, and hundreds of pre-built PHP scripts from your Java classes opening up your applications to greater flexibility and enhanced functionality. Examples and case studies...
we have implement one projects in JAVA/PHP for the PDF watermarking, the projects details follows:
E-commerce website to sell E-book online, user can purchase the book online and after payment system will generated the PDF invoice and it email to customer email along with the E-book download link the PDF will be password protected and watermark strapping paypal tractions ID and paypal email, which have done in JAVA/PHP bridge technology, our job is make invoice generation and PDF strapping rest of the part customer did from there in house developer.

Rich Internet Applications are the latest buzz in the software industry. A new generation of web applications has come of age with RIA technologies. With RIA, user interface has become richer than ever.
What is Flex?
Flex is a framework that helps you build dynamic, interactive rich Internet applications. Flex applications are delivered on the web via the Flash Player or to the desktop via Adobe AIR. You can build applications using the free Flex SDK or Flex Builder, an Eclipse based IDE.
Flex application can retrieve data from a PHP backend using web services, including SOAP and REST based web services. You can also transfer objects and other data types directly from PHP to Flex, and vice versa, over AMF. There are several open source AMF solutions available, including AMFPHP, SabreAMF and WebORB for PHP from the Midnight Coders.
Why use Flex
Rich User Experience
Applications developed using Flex ensure rich user experience through intuitive interaction with the application and presenting information in a visually rich interface. The end compiled output is Flash which is the most ubiquitous client software worldwide.
Quick Response
Flex allows development of applications that support complex business logic to run at the browser, rendering a feeling of “quick response” and no refresh.
High Performance
The highly evolved client environment of Flex allows the applications to process large amount of information at client-end without any noticeable change in performance of the applications. This is in contrast to conventional DHTML applications which routinely crash if the record set is scaled up.
Advanced Client-Server Interactivity
Flex enables advanced interactivity between client and server allowing high performance data transmission. This makes Flex an ideal RIA framework for enterprise applications
